The high school junior broke a record that had stood for 41 years by more than six seconds, according to Race Results Weekly on Competitor.com.

As stated on running.competitor.com, Cain fell short of breaking Darlene Beckford’s 4:32.30 American junior mile record, but she will have another chance to reset it in the NYRR Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games in mid February.
