The Color Run is a one of a kind race where participants are asked to wear all white and be prepared to look like a “Willie Wonka tie dyed vat of colored goodness” (TheColorRun.com).

“We call The Color Run the ‘happiest 5K on the planet' because our events bring together friends and family in a unique, healthy, and fun environment,” said Snyder, the founder and executive director of the Color Run. “Our only rules are that people wear white and prepare to be covered in color at the finish!”

The Color Run website ensures that the paint is 100% natural and safe (it’s even edible, but apparently very high in calories and tastes like chalk). Runners are sprayed by race volunteers and workers in a differet color every kilometer: yellow, orange, pink or blue.

Since it’s debut in January 2012, the race has sprung from about 50 events and 600,000 participants in its first year to over 100 events and about one million participants in 2013, according to Running USA.
